
L’ ANTICA PIEVE di SAN PIETRO APOSTOLO
Di epoca longobarda, quasi certamente eretta sulle fondamenta di un precedente tempio romano, la Pieve di San Pietro Apostolo oltre che sul Feletto si estese fin dal principio su una vasta area comprendente le limitrofe frazioni di Formeniga, Collabrigo, il paese di Refrontolo scendendo fino a Sarano e Santa Lucia.

Quella di San Pietro Feletto, infatti, è una delle più antiche pievi della Diocesi di vittorio Veneto, originariamente chiamata Ceneda. La millenaria Pieve sorge su un’altura panoramica ed è introdotta da una gradinata centrale che conduce a un sagrato coperto da un ampio portico, aggiunto all’edificio nel Duecento.

Qui è possibile ammirare il Cristo della Domenica, rara e curiosa immagine della cultura religiosa popolare di fine Medioevo, per ricordare l’obbligo del riposo e della santificazione della domenica. All’interno si possono ammirare preziosi affreschi dal XIII al XV secolo. Entrando s’incontra a sinistra la Cappella di San Sebastiano con soffitto a crociera decorato da uno splendido ciclo di affreschi risalenti alla seconda metà del Quattrocento raffiguranti episodi della vita del Santo.


Nella navata centrale, sulla parete di sinistra, si trovano i dipinti più antichi, in stile bizantino, datati al XII secolo. Sulla parete destra è raffigurato il Ciclo del credo, singolare esempio di ” Bibbia dei poveri”, compreso anche da chi non sapeva leggere.

THE PIEVE of ST. PETER THE APOSTIE
From the Longobard era, almost certainly built on the foundations of a forenseen roman temple, the Parish Church of San Pietro Apostolo, as well as on the Feletto, extended from the biginning over a vast area including the neighboring hamlets of Formeniga, Collabrigo, the town of Refrontolo going down to sarano and Santa Lucia.
That of San Pietro di Feletto, in fact, is one of the oldest parish churches in the Diocese of Vittorio Veneto, originally called Ceneda. The thousand-year-old parish stands on a panoramic hill and is introduced by a central staircase t hat leads to a churchyard covered by a large portico, added to the building in the thirteenth century.
Here it is possible to admire the Christ of Sunday, a rare and curious image of the popular religious culture of the late Middle Ages, to remember the obbligation of rest and santification on Sunday. Inside you can admire precious frescoes from the 13th to the 15th century. Upon entering you come across the chapel of San Sebastiano on the left with a cross-vaulted celling decorated with a splendid cycle of frescoes dating back to the second half of the fifteenth century depicting episodes from the life of the Saint.
In the central nave, on the left wall, there are the oldest paintings, in Byzantine style, dating back to the 13th century. On the right wall the Creed Cycle is depicted, a singular example of a “Bibie for the poor”, understood even by those who could not read.
